Why RISC Was Founded

In recent years, research institutions across Europe have faced an unprecedented rise in risks: foreign state interference, dual-use research concerns, vulnerabilities in international collaborations, and growing pressure on academic freedom.

RISC Platform was founded in 2026 by a group of universities, research organizations, and policy experts who recognized the need for a dedicated, collaborative response. Rather than leaving institutions to navigate these challenges alone, RISC provides shared frameworks, expertise, and community.
